These scones are beautiful with a touch of butter or just on their own and make a great afternoon treat.
Rub together the flour and butter to make a light crumb.
Add the baking powder, salt and caster sugar and lightly mix.
Peel core and grate the apple and lightly mix with your dry ingredients.
Depending on how wet your apple is will depends on how much of the milk you need to add.
If the mixture is too wet it won’t hold its shape.
Place on a lined baking sheet.
Form a round approx. 2 inches thick score with a knife into 8 portions.
Sprinkle with a little Demerara sugar before cooking.
and cook in a preheated oven 185C and cook for 25-30 mins.
Use a cocktail stick, skewer, or sharp knife to check the scone is cooked.
200g Self raising flour
1tsp Baking Powder
50g Plant based butter
50g Caster Sugar
1 Medium cooking Apple
4Tbsp plant based milk
1Tbsp Demerara sugar
